Esther Grijalva, Realtor

Esther Grijalva, daughter of Roberto and Martha Grijalva was born and raised in Sonora, Mexico.

Her family migrated to the United States when she was five, making Arizona their first stop.

In Arizona her father worked as a horse trainer at a ranch who’s owner decided to open up a location in Big Sandy, Texas.

The family moved to Big Sandy where Esther graduated from high school. She moved to Tyler shortly after graduation to attend Kilgore College where she studied Graphic Design. After relocating to Denton and studying business at the University of North Texas, she returned to Tyler. She began working for the East Texas Crisis Center, dedicated to providing safety, shelter, and education for victims of family violence, sexual assault, and other violent crime.

“During my years at the East Texas Crisis Center I fell in love with empowering women in particular, being able to move on from victim to survivor. My mindset completely changed,” Grijalva said.

Esther’s met the father of her kids Roque Perez in 2008 and gave birth to Sarai, their first daughter in 2010. A couple of years later she discovered during her pregnancy of their second child that there were issues with his skill. A news that Esther knew would change her life.

“With all the doctor visits I had I didn’t feel that I should stay working because I was going to have to be out alot, “ Esther said about her decision to resign.

After the birth of her child and his successful surgeries she decided to return to work in 2015.

She began working in property management helping with rental properties.

This was Esther’s second job with something to do with housing.

“My tribe, my environment is very sacred to me because I never want to be in that place again. I want to continue to grow and show people that they can achieve their dreams. So many times we let other people’s fears affect our decisions. If god calls you to do something he will qualify you,” Esther said.

During this time Esther began working with Photography and exercising programs to help others and herself feel better about themselves.

One day when looking for suggestions, Esther posted a question about real estate on her facebook, to which Erika replied to in a private message.

Esther received her license for Real Estate in June 2018 and began shadowing Erika for some time.

“I knew Maya Properties was coming and i just felt like this was the place,” Esther said, “It was important for me to feel comfortable.”

Now, as a realtor she explained how she feels like everything she has learned came together in one way or another.

“My clients are my tribe. I would not be able to do anything without their support. Majority of my clients come from Social media (Facebook). Many people don’t know me personally because I am not from Tyler, but they trust me because I have been honest about my struggles and continue to share my life on social media. I have people that I am barely meeting in person who are looking for a home who I have talked to and known on social media for years.

I don’t take that responsibility lightly. After all, I will be a part of one of their biggest decisions in their life. Everyone can become homeowners, and I genuinely believe that.”
