LinkedIn for Dating?

So, this week I received a pretty lengthy email from someone who found me on LinkedIn telling me he was interested. Is this a thing now??

Are we using LinkedIn to find a job and a boyfriend/girlfriend—killing two birds with one stone, type of thing? I’m not sure how I feel about it. And let me tell you, I would love to meet someone interesting! However, I’m not sure I like that someone used information I listed for professional purposes, to ask me out. Let me also point out that he is not even one of my LinkedIn connections, so I really don’t know who he is or what he looks like.

I’ve tried the whole online dating thing, but this made me feel a little uneasy… am I overthinking it? Did I miss something?

(By the way, I’ve only used two of these apps… ok maybe 3)

I never emailed him back. I just didn’t feel comfortable doing so, but I guess I shouldn’t be as surprised as I am that this happened. Especially in this age of technology and mass communication.
